I had many discussions about this, when the reason for this choice and am saying contradicts the spirit of "green" our project.
I would say this: The materials known as "ecological" are not always the best solution and must be considered on a case by case basis. For my part, I prefer the PVC frame, without any maintenance, and longevity over a wood frame from the North (where it must also take into account the embodied energy to cut it, the work reduce, treat ...)
PVC is today entirely recyclable, unlike what people think bcp. (see rulo.be)
The Ug = 1.2
The Ug: it the universal unit of measurement of insulation. This is a heat loss coefficient expressing the insulation against the cold. Clearly, the "Ug" a mere 4 mm to 6.8. With double glazing the "Ug" falls to 2.8
