I just returned from eight days of work-in-juice-of-arms of Curahuara Carangas where we, my friend Jen and I given our heart and our muscles to renovate part of the old hospital in order to relocate the "Wawa Yurin uta". For more space and more amenities, including a bathroom. Which, admittedly, is still a nice addition. But all this fine work is the sum of many adventures more preposterous with each other. As do the renovation without Rona, in a village that is 3 hours of what can be called a city, it means the puzzle. Certainly, there are some patent that can provide the missing stuff ... but frankly you need to activate your system D and your patience. Efficiency is a concept here, rather on!
Before we venture out for a week Curahuara, we walked for three days the streets of Oruro to purchase what is was on our lil list prepared by the contractor. You should have seen it! 2 'Titus "gringa" who scavenge the tool magazines (which are more like convenience stores only) by seeking Cossins construction in English, without really understanding what they seek. Beautiful!

We are at Curahuara after holding the stock on our pickup and watched all over the 3:30 that lasted the trip. The contractor was absent and unavailable to our arrival, we ourselves have unloaded our cargo of paint, wood floor, of stucco and cement. Assisted by the midwife and the employee maintenance ... and two kids!
Then, for 8 days, the day of Groundhog ... of scraping paint, sanding, painting of, washing ... and laughter, the llama, chicken and 'tits juice bag, Tinku music, shopping at the missing equipment. .. and above all, resourceful!
You do not have scissors to cut your pretenses de-tupperware dishes to make your cutting? Okay! Use a saw to cut your 2-liter plastic.
Do not have a scale worthy of the name to paint the upper walls? Okay! Step on a kind of makeshift scaffold, made of wood that creaks and shakes praying for it yields not under your weight. A chance that you've lost 10 pounds since your stay in Bolivia.
Your contractor cut the hole too large for the skylight that you bought? Okay! It redo the missing part of the ceiling. But, the drywall is not in Oruro? Okay! It redo the ceiling of the cage with chicken, straw and chalk powder.
Want to wash the floor but there is no mop? Okay! Sacrifice your sweater which will be attached to a stick. In fact, do not think it's typical of the campaign, everybody does that here in Bolivia.
You do not have enough brushes to make your beautiful outdoor mural because, fortunately, many women in the community involved? Okay! Find your child's heart and make finger paint.
You want to listen to local music but your wireless radio does not care? Okay! Enter the wire into the socket so that it comes out the other side, Gossez a little while (I honestly do not remember the maneuver). And if the yarn is hanging, making your structure wavering, ask a hammer on a pile of floor, below the wire. You see, it works!
Jen and I are quite proud of the work. Thank you to my family came to help us during the weekend with a lot of heart and passion. Several women came to visit and are delighted with this new place, more convenient, to be their new birthing center. It remains to finish the little details (we restart from Curahuara tomorrow) ... and dozens of little babies will be born in that place human, warm, practice ... in which there will be a few of us.
