Well, yesterday was held on 3 rd and final course, practical, organized by the environmental department of the municipality Halle, Haviland and
VLACO (both working for a sustainable management of green waste and more)
It was very rewarding despite some words that escaped me because this course was given in néerlandais.Comme explained below, I had to change the system for 3-bin composting, the barrel being adapted for smaller areas or where there are no garden at all.
So I made 3 trays with pallets lying around still on the site (which delighted my dear and loving ...)
As we started to mulch at the foot of the hawthorn was quickly filled the first tank .
I'll apply it to our compost what I learned yesterday is because it's time I re-active all in the first ferry back in the second! (25 days after the temp goes down and stays, see diagram above)
I was also surprised to learn that when the bin is totally wets a dozen buckets that must be discarded! And add at mid-height layer of compost will turn even more the decomposition process because rich in bacteria.
I also put a stone under each corner to leave the wood as the floor is not ideal if one hopes to keep its compost a few years at least.
The course gives the ecological garden 'Eisingen'le along the canal at Halle. It is open to all between March and September and at least two masters compostier (volunteers) are present every second Saturday of the month to give explanations to visitors.
is completely free and the garden, it is open 365 days a year.
address is: Natuurtuin Eisingen - F. Roggemanskaai 8 -1501 Buizingen Halle
They received the first prize CTCAWARD 2008 for best demonstration site.
I registered to complete training and volunteer compostier master to give explanations (in the limit of my knowledge) to visitors at events that will be organized.
educational projects with children in particular are also planned.
is not all that good but we have to go vote! Good Sunday
Belgium free and lively!
